VANITY

0

In this world of ours,
As time passes; hour after hours,
Man struggles to acquire,
All things which his heart
desires.
Jumping from poles to pits,
All these just to make Ends meet.
After the hustling and struggling,
He gathers his friends and make
merry.
The money, he lavishes and keeps
spending,
Foolish man! Your money, you
ferry.
But you don’t care about
tomorrow’s fending.
In time of need and want,
No one will come to your aid.
Your friends?, even you, they will
taunt,
Even after promises they have
made.
Another keeps!
He saves for the future,
And even ignores sleep,
Working and working for the
future.
Alas!
Death comes and snatchs him.
Like an eagle to a prey.
Comes without forewarning,
And its victim, it slays.
Now,
What essence is storing up
treasure?
When, one’s life, you can’t
measure.
But do we continue in waste, and
hope for death?
It’s a world we live in,
And a world we are leaving.
Keep yourself pure, and your soul
will be at rest.
